This animated movie set time in the aftermath of World War II bombing.

This movie cant be compare to any list of other great war movies ever made, coz’ unlike the others, this movie never mention about the war itself ( I mean whose attacking whose, whose fault, the purpose of war, patriotism, ect ect). The idea of this movie is very simple,its a tale of the true tragedy of war and innocence lost of two orphaned children who struggle to survive.

To Seita and his four-year-old sister (Setsuko), the helplessness and indifference of their countrymen is even more painful than the enemy raids. Seita is a very brave, responsible and caring brother, all trough desperation, hunger and grief, he never cried for himself,  he always think about his sister first, making her life as comfortable and happy as he could( tetep usil sih-tapi… kakak mana sih, yg gak hobi ngejailin adiknya?:p). He only cried two times. First, when he found out that Setsuko already know that their mom is dead in the first raid(the aunty told her, after he desperately tried to cover it up ).

Second, when she asking him :“whare is that hurt? Should I called a doctor?” after she watched her brother being beaten up, when he tried to steal some food (so his very sick sister could eat) T_T

This movie has backward plot, so the first scene is the end of story ( so belon ada 5 mnt, R udah nangis bombay ^_^). I think, the beauty of making this tale as animated movie are that the ideas become abstract and yet pure in the same way….
